EnduraFlood wall panel systems can be installed in a large variety of room configurations, including most basements and other flood-prone areas. Numerous profile options allow the user to adapt the installation to different heights, and to different drywall thicknesses. The various decorative options ensure that every homeowner will find the perfect fit for their decor!
In this post, we will demonstrate how to use one of the most common fittings: HORI-COR/I
HORI-COR/I is used whenever we encounter an inside corner of a ½" drywall installation, and use UNI-TRIM along the straight sections of the wall. While making a miter cut in a UNI-TRIM profile is possible for an inside corner, HORI-COR/I provides the most finished look in the most efficient installation process.
Let's get started with a review of the process on our table-top display.
As we can see, the display has been prepared with a ninety-degree wall corner. Sections of half-inch drywall are already installed. For the best fit of our profiles, we want to start by adding blocking between the studs nearest the corner. We then staple HORI-COR/I into the corner, making a snug fit.
We then continue the horizontal trim run on the right and on the left side using UNI-TRIM.
Measuring the height of the horizontal trim from the floor, we deduct three inches and use this dimension as the height for our wall panels.
After cutting the wall panels, we insert the right one and temporarily support it with a hand lift. Then, we mount at least two BASE-CLIPs underneath.
Next, we slide VERTI-COR/I onto the right edge of the left board. Make sure to leave approximately one-quarter inch gap at the top edge, so that the board can slide underneath the UNI-TRIM profile.
The final step is the installation of UNI-BASE.
We have already pre-cut the miter joint of two UNI-BASE pieces. As always, we predrill with a three-eighth drill, about one quarter inch into UNI-BASE. The hole location should be across from a stud location, and three-quarter inches from the upper edge of UNI-BASE. Predrill around two inches using a 3/32" drill into the stud.
Insert the truss-head screws, and close the holes with a hole plug. Congratulations, you just finished your first inside corner with EnduraFlood!
Now, lets repeat the installation in a real-world inside corner.
Lets summarize:
- Dry-fit HORI-COR/I
- Install blocking
- staple HORI-COR/I
- Continue along the wall with UNI-TRIM
- Slide your pre-cut wall panels into UNI-TRIM, and support them with at least two hand lifts
- Mount at least two BASE-CLIP for permanent support
- Connect a pre-cut piece of VERTI-COR/I to the side of the abutting wall panel, and insert this wall panel.
- Install BASE-CLIP
- and finally, install UNI-BASE
By the way, did you notice that we used unpainted cement boards as panels in this video? These panels are a great choice for customers looking for a modern "industrial chic" look.
Another easy and quick wall panel installation is finished, thanks to EnduraFlood.
