You basically use vapor barriers in high humidity climates or maybe some other situations that I may not be so familiar with. I think of it as an additional layer of protection from moisture to catch whatever comes through the insulation. With todays insulation I am not so sure, lots of it is fiber anyways and I dont see how moisture gets through that. Its really a question around insulation more so than what drywall you use. If you are concerned about insulation, enduraflood will not help because remember you dont want to caulk up the seams otherwise you cant get the panels off later.
Hi tknpapp! I am not sure what your application is ie in the basement vs first floor so i may be off target here. We have installed EnduraFlood in basements only where there is a risk of water either coming through a Storm (through a basement window or door or failing sump pump erc) or through a crack in the foundation wall that was patched up but that still poses a risk. Vapor barriers are used to keep moisture out so we have never used them. But i am sure there are situations where they are warranted. Basically if you would use a moisture barrier with traditional Sheetrock you would also use a moisture barrier with Enduraflood I think.
