Hi, I am in Vermont and we were flooded twice in 2 years, last one being 1 month ago. Anticipating more flooding, this system seems to be exactly what we need. We had a company cut the drywall back 28 inches already. What is the exact height we should cut if we want to get the 33 inch panels? I thought I read somewhere that you install a few inches higher than the floor? Can someone clarify that for me?
Thank you,
Cindy, we get this question all the time. Oftentimes after water gets in, someone cuts out the lower portion of the drywall very roughly at two feet, sometimes a little higher. If you have a 28" cut, the best way forward would be to cut higher to 36 inches and use the system for 36" (you will use 33" high boards). You could in theory also build the gypsum board back down to 24", but that seems more effort that its worth. The 36" height also gives you the option to choose one of the more decorative styles like Greenwood or Chester if you want. Good luck and reach back out if you have more questions.
Where are you located?
Hi,
l installed EF in my basement last month. From what I understood, it is recommended to install the panels 3 inches from floor- that way you can easily remove the baseboard to check for any moisture if ever need be without removing the panel. So, if you want to purchase the 33 inch panels, you would cut back 36 inches of drywall. I hope that helps.
